  • As of February 24, 2021, New Mexico will move to a Red, Yellow, Green and Turquoise county-by-county system. Currently, Otero County is TURQUOISE.

      • Red Restrictions – Essential Businesses (non-retail): no capacity restriction, but must limit operations to necessary staff.

        Essential Retail Spaces – 25% of maximum capacity

        Non Essential Businesses – 25% of maximum capacity

        Food & Drink Establishments – No indoor dining permitted. 25% of maximum capacity for outdoor dining. Establishments serving alcohol must close by 9 pm each night.

        Close Contact Businesses – Hair Salons, Nail Salons, Gyms – 25% of maximum or 10 customers at one time.

        Outdoor Recreational Facilities – 25% of maximum capacity.

        Close Contact Recreational Facilities – remain closed

        Houses of Worship – 25% of maximum capacity

        Places of Lodging – 40% of maximum capacity for safe certified, 25% of maximum for all others; 5 guests maximum for vacation rentals

        Mass Gatherings – 5 persons, 40 vehicles

      • Yellow Restrictions – Essential Businesses (non-retail): no capacity restriction, but must limit operations to necessary staff.

        Essential Retail Spaces – 33% of maximum capacity

        Non Essential Businesses – 33% of maximum capacity

        Food & Drink Establishments – 33% of maximum capacity for indoor dining. 75% of maximum capacity for outdoor dining. Establishments serving alcohol must close by 10 pm each night.

        Close Contact Businesses – Hair Salons, Nail Salons, Gyms – 33% of maximum or 20 customers at one time.

        Outdoor Recreational Facilities – 33% of maximum capacity.

        Close Contact Recreational Facilities – remain closed

        Places of Lodging – 60% of maximum capacity for safe certified, 25% of maximum for all others; 5 guests maximum for vacation rentals

        Mass Gatherings – 10 persons, 80 vehicles

        Bars & Clubs – 25% of maximum capacity of any outdoor space; indoor not permitted.

        Close Contact Businesses – Hair Salons, Nail Salons, Gyms – 50% of maximum capacity.

        Outdoor Recreational Facilities – 50% of maximum capacity.

        Close Contact Recreational Facilities – 50% of maximum capacity

        Places of Lodging – 75% of maximum capacity for safe certified, 40% of maximum for all others; 10 guests maximum for vacation rentals

        Places of Lodging – No restrictions for safe certified, 50% of maximum for all others; 15 guests maximum for vacation rentals

        Mass Gatherings – 150 persons, 200 vehicles

  • Alameda Park Zoo is now open.

  • White Sands National Park is now open.

  • New Mexicans are being asked to wear face coverings in public

  • The NM Economic Development Department has launched a hotline for businesses in NM. Call 1-833-551-0518 ext. 2

  • Alamogordo Family Recreation center is closed

  • Betty Dare is not allowing visitors at this time

  • Alamo Senior Center is closed until further notice. Meals on wheels and food pick up WILL continue.

  • The state has also launched a new hotline – 833-551-0518 – for questions related to issues around school closures and issues with employment.

    • Use a tissue or your elbow to catch your sneeze or cough

    • Avoid large gatherings and close contact with sick people especially if you are elderly or high risk.

    • DO NOT go the ER or doctor’s office without first calling the Coronavirus hotline at 855-600-3453.

    • And avoid all unnecessary out of state travel
